Atlas Recording Studios, Inc. provides private recording lessons and workshops for those interested in learning to engineer and those who would like to improve their engineering skills. Our studio is equipped with some of the finest gear available in the recording industry. Get real world, hands on experience. Unlike many schools that focus on teaching you how to use a computer without teaching the basic fundamentals of recording, we can start from the beginning, or pick up where you left off. Beginner, Novice, or Expert level of instruction available.
All instruction is conducted by Nathan Eldred. Nathan has been recording for over 15 years. He is president of Atlas Pro Audio, one of the best independent pro audio companies in the United States and consults with manufacturers to make new and exciting recording gear. Nathan has been instrumental in the development of the Lynx Aurora 8 and 16 channel converter, Old School Audio, Buzz Audio MPE1.1 EQ, Buzz Audio Elixir and Essence; consultant to Vintech Audio, Mytek Digital and others.
Recording lessons are $150/hr flat rate. Recording workshop is a 3 hour lesson and is $450.00 in one of the topics of your choice seen below.

Basic Signal Flow Workshop (Beginner Level)
Topics include: The most basic level of instruction. The hows and whys of getting sound to tape, or computer. How to monitor while recording. Headphone Mix. Getting your mix to CD.
Microphone & Placement Workshop (Beginner Level)
Topics include: Microphone types, microphone choice, microphone placement, micing drums, overview of drum tuning, micing overheads, micing guitar, micing bass, micing vocals. Open discussion and open question and answer about microphone choice.
Getting Better Sounds Workshop (Beginner Level)
Topics include: You know the basics, but it's just not sounding right. Choosing the right gear for the task. Critical listening. Pre-production overview and Production overview. Bring in your own recording on CD and get help with how to get better results during tracking. Open discussion and open question and answer about topics.
Mic Pres & Compression Workshop
Topics include: Microphone Preamps and Compression. Choosing the appropriate mic pre and compressor. How to use mic pres and compressors. Open discussion and open question and answer.
Topics include: EQ, Reverb, and Mixing. How to on EQ, and Reverbs. Bring in your own recording on CD and get help with how to get better mixes. Open discussion and open question and answer.
We offer 3 levels of instruction. The recording workshop is available to anyone interested in learning more about recording. You may choose any of the courses outlined (see left) which suits you, each workshop is a 3 hour lesson.
